


The different mercs across the Acts have skills unique to their class as well.Mercenaries, however, cannot wear class-specific equipment (except for the Barbarians), and they can only wield weapons specific to their type.Press O (PC) on your keyboard to open the Mercenary sheet, then drag and drop the pieces of equipment you'd like them to use. Your mercs can also use armor and weapons that you've gathered. However, in the Lord of Destruction expansion, Mercenaries are significantly more helpful and are available throughout the game-this is also the case for Diablo II: Resurrected. For example, Rogue Scouts would only be available while you're exploring areas and completing quests in Act I and would not follow you to Lut Gholein in Act II.

In the vanilla version of Diablo II, you can only hire mercs as a temporary companion throughout one Act.
